Following posts are to be filled up on purely temporary basis at the Medicinal Plants Unit, ICMR Headquarters, New Delhi in medicinal plants related projects:
Project I Reviews on Indian Medicinal Plants
1. Research Associates (Four)
Qualifications
(Position 1) M.D. / Ph.D. in Pharmacology – Reserved for OBC;
(Position 2,3&4) Ph.D./Chemistry/Botany/Pharmaceutical Sciences
Desirable (i) Experience in working on medicinal plants/natural products (ii) Experience in literature search by digital and traditional sources in the field of medicinal plants (iii) Flair for scientific writing, preparation of reviews, reports, monographs (iv) Working knowledge in computers
Age Below 40 years (below 42 years in case of female candidate).
Salary Rs. 17,000/- pm (consolidated) + HRA
Job Requirements
Literature search relating to medicinal plants/products, compilation of information, preparation/scrutiny of reviews/monographs etc. and other related work.
2. Scientific Documentation Assistant (One)
Qualifications MSc. in Biological sciences/Chemistry with Associateship (INSDOC/ DRTC)/degree in library and Information Sciences.
Desirable: (i)Diploma/Degree in Computer Application (ii) Experience in scientific documentation, storage and retrieval of information, archiving of documents.
Age Below 30 years.
Salary Rs. 10,835/- pm (fixed)

3. DTP Assistant (One)
Qualification (i) Graduate (ii) Post-graduate diploma in Book publishing (book production) or Diploma in printing technology
Desirable 2 years relevant experience

Salary Rs. 8,865/ - pm (consolidated)
Job Requirement
To assist in production/printing of monographs, liaison with printing press, computerization of data etc.
4. Data Entry Assistant (One)
Qualifications Graduate with 2 years relevant experience.
Desirable (i) Diploma/Certificate in computer applications from a reputed institution (ii) Science graduates or Experience of working in scientific institution or scientific information.
Age Below 28 years
Salary Rs. 8,865/- pm (fixed).

Project II Quality Standards of Indian Medicinal Plants
5. Research Scientist II (One)
Qualification Ph.D. in Chemistry/Botany/Pharmacy; 3 years experience in handling work relating to natural products/ medicinal plants Desirable (i) Experience in scientific writing, preparation of monographs etc. (ii) Working on databases (iii) Working knowledge of computers
Age Below 45 years
Salary Rs. 19,700/ - pm (fixed)+HRA
Job Requirement
To assist in evaluation, scrutiny, finalization of monographs and co-ordination of the programme and other related activities.
6. Programme Associates (Two)
Qualification M. Pharma/ MSc. (Chemistry/Botany/Computer Science/IT)/MCA Desirable (i) 2 years experience in scientific work on medicinal plants (ii) Experience in literature search on online databases (iii) Experience in programming, website
designing.
Age Below 35 years
Salary Rs. 12,805/ - pm (consolidated)
Job Requirement
To assist in work relating to monographs on Quality Standards of medicinal plants (The work may involve evaluation, documentation, scrutiny of monographs, preparation of indices/appendices, computerization of data, literature search, programming etc).
General information/instructions
The posts are purely temporary and co-terminus with the project. The maximum duration of the project I for the positions at Sl. No. 1,2,3 & 4 is upto Nov 2008 and project II for the positions at Sl. No. 5 &6 is upto Feb 2009. The appointment, are terminable with one-month notice from either side without assigning any reason. The selected candidates will have no claim for regular appointment under ICMR. Benefits of Provident Fund, CCA, Leave Travel Concession etc. are not admissible. No TA/DA will be paid for attending interview, joining or termination of the services. Age upper limit is as on the date of interview. Age relaxation in case of SC/ST/OBC as per rules. Candidates possessing experience in work relating to medicinal plants/natural products shall be
preferred.
The interested candidates possessing above qualifications may report for interview to Chief, Medicinal Plants Unit on 29th Aug 2008 at 9 am to 10.30 am. Those appearing for personal discussion should bring alongwith them (i) six copies of biodata (candidates appearing for more than one position should bring additional 6 copies for each position) (ii) certificates and testimonials in original and one attested copy each of the certificates and testimonials. Candidates reporting between 9 am to 10.30 am only shall be interviewed.
